Tariff tracker and better seller info

Only half of this week’s update was a part of the original game plan… but sometimes a curveball just looks too fun not to swing at.

Tariff tracker

When the White House announced their plan to introduce 25% tariffs on vehicles imported to the US on Wednesday, we knew it was going to cause quite the stir in the car shopping and broader automotive industry. We also knew that there was going to be a LOT of fear mongering… so we decided to do what we do best, and show up with the data and build a dedicated page about all things tariffs.

There’s a lot we don’t know about the tariffs in terms of how they’ll affect pricing and availability of new vehicles, but what we do know is that the manufacturers and models that may feel the highest impact are those that are produced overseas.

By using the first three characters of every VIN (aka the “WMI”) that we’ve been tracking on Visor, you can start to get an idea of how much of the net new inventory sitting on lots today was produced here in North America versus in plants around the world.

Give the page a whirl and let us know what you think! We’ll be tracking the effects of the tariffs after they go into affect on April 2nd, so stay tuned for updates to this page.

Better seller info

Since the first days of Visor, we we’ve gotten complaints and requests for more accurate seller information. So we decided to go to the most holistic source of truth for business contact information out there: Google Maps.

Not only did we seek to make the information more accurate, but now we’ve also provided opening hours and even a Google Maps link to the dealership for your navigation needs!

What’s next

We’ve got a lot on deck for the next few weeks, but we may take some time to step back and improve the reliability of the site. Sorry for all of the crashes/instability lately!
