Easier access to CarFax/Vehicle History Report

We want to make it so that all the information you could need is within Visor - and when shopping for used vehicles, it’s a no-brainer to check the CarFax when you see a fresh listing. We’ll pull over the CarFax/iPacket/AutoCheck if it’s available on the dealer’s website.

I’m in Canada and quite often the dealer doesn’t share the carfax report on their page unless you request it. Perhaps a partnership or subscription to carfax (I think dealers get unlimited searches for any vin) would be more straightforward. The way I see it, if you can get the VIN, it’s easy to get carfax report whether it’s part of a listing or not.

Good to know. We have not approached CarFax yet, but I imagine this will be coming sometime next year. Thanks for pointing this out!

Can this also pull theft and salvage records from https://www.nicb.org/vincheck.

Hey Cody - thanks for the comment. The idea is to simply expose the link to the CarFax/iPacket/AutoCheck if available, saving you a click on the dealer website. We do have the ability to run basic reports ourselves (using the NICB data), but it would come at a nominal cost, say $2/$3 each (which would come in handy when the dealer doesn’t offer a complimentary report). Is this something you’d be interested in? How would you want this to work in Visor?

I think your idea of linking CarFax/iPacket/AutoCheck info is best. Secondary to that I guess my thought was you get 5 free VINChecks on NICB site in 24 hour period. You could point people to that site or pull info directly in to see if there has been reports (but obviously limited on how many times you can do that). That info is basic but it gives you a quick indication of why a vehicle might be priced low (has a salvage title or reported stolen). Paying for a more detailed history report within in visor would be a good option when you find a vehicle you are very interested in.
