This week, Craig and I have been focused on polish, accuracy, and reliability for the site. We want to make sure all the t’s are crossed and i’s are dotted when you’re searching for your next dream ride. But despite it being “quality week,” we couldn’t resist the temptation to deliver another big feature - more on that later.
If you’re a Plus user, you may have already noticed that we are now showing a LOT more volume for listings with installed options (about 5x more, in fact). We spent quite a bit of time this past week figuring out how to decode more installed options from listings, and we think this will let you see a lot more vehicles for sale that have your dream spec.
This one’s a bit harder to see, but after getting too many emails about the difference between “Storm Cloud 1” and “Storm Cloud 33” (yeah, we don’t know either), we decided to resolve this issue once and for all. From this week on, you should see a lot more listing volume with standardized interior and exterior colors, based directly on OEM build specification data.
(PS - you may still see some strange colors in these filters, but hopefully a lot fewer of them!)
For a while now, we’ve gotten requests for (and have wanted ourselves) a way to keep notes on a listing as you go through the deal process. We’ve also been feeling a strong desire to share info about listings or dealers with the community to help other buyers know what to expect when pursuing a deal(or dealer).
Starting today, you’ll see a input box near the top of the listing that will allow you to jot down notes for your eyes only, or to share your experience with others.
The CARS Act, which was recently struck down in the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, sought to bring more transparency to online pricing for new and used vehicles. It would have banned dealerships from hiding fees, and would have also required them to post transparent pricing including all fees and dealer-installed options.
Despite the failure of the Act, we want to champion the ideals proposed by this act and empower you to expose hidden fees and help others know what to expect before walking into a dealership.
Last week we introduced Exclude Mode, but we heard that you wanted to use Include AND Exclude for the Installed Options filter. Now you can!
We’re considering quite a few big features to start working on, so cast your vote in the roadmap to get them prioritized!
